Article 1 In order to further standardize the undergraduate education of clinical medicine for overseas students in China (English teaching), effectively improve the quality of training, and promote the healthy and sustainable development of medical education for overseas students in China, this standard is formulated on the basis of Interim Provisions on quality control standard for undergraduate medical education for overseas students (English teaching) (No. 39 [2007]).

The list of Chinese Ministry of Education-approved medical universities which offer MBBS in English in 2020-2021 has been released. The list has been released every year since 2007 when 'Provisions for Quality Control Standards on Undergraduate Medical Education in English for International Student in China' were introduced. There is a small change of this list compared to the last year's. The total quota for MBBS program in 2019 was 3,370 and in this year it was only 3,058, a decline of 312 seats was made by the government.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China National Immigration Administration Announcement on the Temporary Suspension of Entry by Foreign Nationals Holding Valid Chinese Visas or Residence Permits In view of the rapid spread of COVID-19 across the world, China has decided to temporarily suspend the entry into China by foreign nationals holding visas or residence permits still valid to the time of this announcement, effective from 0 a.m., 28 march 2020. Entry by foreign nationals with APEC Business Travel Cards will be suspended as well. Policies including port visas, 24/72/144-hour visa-free transit policy, Hainan 30-day visa-free policy, 15-day visa-free policy specified for foreign cruise-group-tour through Shanghai Port, Guangdong 144-hour visa-free policy specified for foreign tour groups from Hong Kong or Macao SAR, and Guangxi 15-day visa-free policy specified for foreign tour groups of ASEAN countries will also be temporarily suspended. Entry with diplomatic, service, courtesy or C visas will not be affected. Foreign nationals coming to China for necessary economic, trade, scientific or technological activities or out of emergency humanitarian needs may apply for visas at Chinese embassies or consulates. Entry by foreign nationals with visas issued after this announcement will not be affected.

China’s universities and colleges which offer March intake usually starts recruitment in middle October or early November 2020, according to the latest statistics of LUCAS International.
