Founded in 1958, Central South University of Forestry and Technology (CSUFT) is located in Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province, a historical and cultural city in south central China. With a graceful natural environment and convenient transportation, its area spreads 1388 acres. Over 65 years, CSUFT is one of China’s first-class universities with strong academic strength in Hunan Province and was awarded an excellent institution in the teaching evaluation of undergraduate education by the Ministry of Education of China.
CSUFT is located in the urban area of Changsha City, with convenient transportation and living conditions. Setting off from the school, you can easily get anywhere in Changsha by subway, bus, taxi, etc. There are many large shopping malls, banks, supermarkets, shopping centers, gyms and so on around CSUFT.
There are a graduate school and 24 teaching units, 80 undergraduate majors. Among them, there are 23 national first-class majors, 4 national characteristic specialties and 14 provincial first-class majors. There are 6 first-level disciplines authorized for doctoral degree, 20 first-level disciplines authorized for master’s degree, 16 professional degrees authorized for master's degree, 5 postdoctoral research institutes, and 6 disciplines including agricultural science, engineering, environmental ecology, materials science, plant and animal science, and chemistry which are listed in the top 1% of Essential Science Indicators(ESI) in the world; there are 2337 faculty members, 966 of whom have senior titles, including 1 academician at the Chinese Academy of Engineering. There are more than 30,000 full-time students.
In the past ten years, there has been a rapid development and expansion in CSUFT’s international student education especially with an influx of international students from different countries such as Russia, UK, France, Finland, Germany, Spain, Italy, USA, Canada, Mexico, South Africa, Morocco, Tunisia, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Benin, Ghana, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Bangladesh, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, South Korea, Japan, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Krygyzstan, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, etc.

Changsha Huanghua International Airport (CSX) is one of the more active airports in mainland China which is 10 kilometers away from Changsha urban area. Huanghua Airport does not only have direct flights to all provinces and big cities in China, but also has more than ten international flights flying directly from Changsha to Chicago, Los Angeles, Anchorage, London, Frankfurt, Moscow, Sydney, Melbourne, and most major cities in Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asian countries.
Changsha is the hometown of Mao Zedong, the founder of New China, and he’s well known both at home and abroad. Changsha has a prosperous economy and a vibrant market. China-Africa Economic and Trade Fair has been established in Hunan for a long time. The first China-Africa Economic and Trade Fair will be held in Changsha, Hunan Province, from June 18th to 20th , 2019. In addition, Changsha hosts nearly 50 international expositions every year.
Changsha and its surrounding areas are rich in various types of tourism resources. Yuelu Mountain·Orange Isle Scenic Spot is China's national 5A-level Tourist Area, which concentrates Changsha's urban characteristics of "mountains, waters, isles and cities". It is a visiting card and living room of the city of Changsha and one of the most famous scenic spots in Hunan. Yuelu Mountain, Maple Leaves, Aiwanting Pavilion and Yuelu Academy are well-known in the four seasons.
Orange Isle locating in the central part of Xiangjiang River is acting as a visiting card, is one of the largest isle around inner river sandbanks in China. There are many historical and cultural landscapes in Orange Isle, such as the statue of the young Mao Zedong, where fireworks are set off. Hunan Museum is the first-class Museum in China. It has more than 180,000 cultural relics. It has many top national treasures, such as Mawangdui Han Tomb Collection, Ding with human face pattern, Changsha Kiln blue glaze brown decorative figure pattern pot, and Suzao Zen dress weighing only 49 grams.
