About

Bohai University (BHU) was founded in February, 1950. As a comprehensive university administered by Liaoning Province Department of Education, it has successfully trained 100,000 plus graduates for China. Located in Jinzhou, a seaside city with a long history in Liaoning Province, it is 490 kilometers away from Beijing, the capital of People’s Republic of China, and 240 kilometers away from Shenyang, the capital city of Liaoning Province.

BHU covers 2,000 mu (more than 1,300,000 square meters) of land area and 500,000 square meters of floor area. It is divided into 16 sub-level colleges, in which there are 44 programs for bachelor’s degree, 16 first-rank curricula for master’s degree, 71 second-rank curricula for master’s degree, and 5 majors for master’s degree in education, covering such disciplines as philosophy, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering and management.
Bohai University has a library holding more than 2,080,000 volumes of books, and its modern facilities can meet the needs of teaching. With the safe and beautiful surroundings and green plants, it is awarded the titles of National Green Institution and Liaoning Province Safety Campus.

BHU has established friendly relationships with 63 higher institutions in the US, Germany, the UK, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and Russia. It enrolls international students from 41 countries, exchanges scholars for lecture, sends abroad qualified teachers and students to further their study or to pursue certain degrees, imports quality educational sources from other countries to enhance its teaching and research, and conducts international cooperation programs.

BHU constantly adheres to its own strategy in developing itself, and persistently sticks to quality education and various policies, so as to develop itself into a first-class teaching-research type of university in China with a variety of well-adjusted disciplines.

INTRODUCTION OF BHU

Since China's Twelfth Five-year Plan, BU teachers have successfully applied or completed 2224 projects of various levels, including the national Project 863, National Fund Project for Natural Science, National Fund Project for Social Science, and other key projects at the levels of Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education or Liaoning Province, and have got 1,061 awards for academic researches of various kinds. They have been authorized 240 invention patent rights. They published 452 professional books and 10,388 papers, 2,001 of which have been indexed by the three key search systems—SCI, EI and CPCI. Beginning from 2011 until now, they have successfully applied for 32 projects for the National Fund Project for Social Science, 125 projects for the National Fund Project for Natural Science, 8 projects for the Ministry of Science and Technology, and 345 projects for the Ministry of Education's Project for Humanities & Social Science and the Ministry of Education's Key Projects for Science and Technology. Particularly in 2014,

they have successfully applied for 11 projects for the National Fund Project for Social Science, and 31 projects for the National Fund Project for Natural Science, which promotes Bohai University to the 3rd position among higher schools in Liaoning Province; up until now, 8 projects for the National Fund Project for Social Science, and 37 projects for the National Fund Project for Natural Science, which promotes it the 4th position among higher schools in Liaoning Province. Bohai University is listed to No. 68 among national top 100 higher schools and No. 1 among higher schools in Liaoning Province for nation-wide ESI-TOP papers in 2012. It is listed to No. 60 among national higher schools and No. 2 among higher schools in Liaoning Province for the 2014 Most Cited Chinese Researchers. With 2 papers entering into China's 100 Most Influential International Academic Papers in 2014, Bohai University is listed to No. 7 among national higher schools and No. 1 among higher schools in Liaoning Province.
