Established in 1912 as “the Preparatory School for Further Study in Europe and America”，Henan University was then one of the three training bases for studying abroad in China. The school was the former provincial public education institution and located in the former site of 'Imperial Examination Center'. The year 1942 saw the founding of National Henan University, a comprehensive university that enjoyed profound academic strength and worldwide reputation, with faculties in humanities, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine and law. After the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, the University was modulated into Henan Normal College. 1984 witnessed the restoration of Henan University. In 2008, it became a co-construct university by Henan Province and Ministry of Education of China, a “Plan 111” construction university in 2016, and “Double First-Class” initiative university in 2017.

Established in 1951, Southern Medical University (SMU), a national key university (1979), was originally the First Military Medical University, PLA. In August 2004, it was handed over to the local government of Guangdong Province and renamed as Southern Medical University. It is the only Provincial Prospective High-Level Medical Universities and the first Ministry-Province Co-constructed Medical University. SMU is one of the first 8 prestigious universities to run the pilot 8-year medical education program. It is also the first universities to pilot the program of education and cultivation of outstanding doctors in China.

Tianjin University, established in 1895 with the name of “Peiyang University”, is the first educational institution of higher learning in China. Over a hundred years, more than 150,000 students have graduated from Tianjin University and made great contributions in every walk of life. At present, Tianjin University has grown into a National Key University directly under the administration of the Ministry of Education of China. With the tradition of diligence and modesty, Tianjin University is prepared to meet challenges in the 21st century.

Liaoning Petrochemical University (LNPU) is located in Fushun, overlooking the scenic banks of the Hunhe River. It enjoys a beautiful campus environment. LNPU was originally founded in Dalian in 1950 as the first petroleum school of New China. In 1953 the school was relocated to Fushun and in 1958 it was upgraded to Fushun Petroleum Institute. In February 2000 its leadership was transferred to the People’s Government of Liaoning Province, in light of the management system of “simultaneous construction by central and local governments, with the local government playing a more prominent role”. In October of the same year, Fushun Coal Industry School was incorporated into Fushun Petroleum Institute; in February 2002, with the approval of the Ministry of Education (MOE), Fushun Petroleum Institute was renamed as Liaoning Petrochemical University.

Wenzhou Medical University (WMU) is a higher institution under the administration of Zhejiang Provincial Government. It can trace its origin back to the former Zhejiang Specialized Medical School established in 1912. In August 1958, a group of faculty was sent from Zhejiang Medical College in Hangzhou to help establish the Second Zhejiang Medical College in Wenzhou, whose name was changed to Wenzhou Medical College in accordance with its location. In 2013 Wenzhou Medical College was officially renamed Wenzhou Medical University. In 2015, it was shortlisted as one of the co-development universities by the Ministry of Education, National Health and Family Planning Commission and Zhejiang Provincial Government. In 2017, it became a Priority Development University in Zhejiang Province.

Jiangsu University (JSU) was founded by combining the former Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, Zhenjiang Medical College and Zhenjiang Teachers’ College with the approval of the Ministry of Education of China in August, 2001. It has now successfully developed to be a comprehensive teaching and research oriented university with strength of engineering. JSU has been ranked as Asia's top 200 university, ranked 181 among BRICS and emerging economies by the latest Times Higher Education rankings which announced JSU in the world top 1000 universities for the first time. QS world university rankings awarded prestegious 4-star rating to JSU in the overall evaluation. Currently, JSU ranks 41 among >3000 higher educational institutions in China.

China Pharmaceutical University (CPU), situated in the historical and cultural city of Nanjing, is one of the “211 project” key universities affiliated to the Ministry of Education of China. It has been known for its long history and its leadership role in China’s pharmaceutical academic field. The University was founded in 1936 as China's first independent four-year National College of Pharmacy and the first public institution for higher pharmaceutical education in China.

Founded in 1909, China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT) is one of the key national universities directly under the administration of the China’s Ministry of Education. It is also listed in the national “211 Project” and “985 Innovation Platform for Advantageous Disciplines”. In 2017, CUMT was recognized as a “university with first-rate discipline construction”. CUMT covers an area of 297 hectares, in which the Wenchang campus covers an area of 107 hectares.
